INFORMATION - FISHING METHODS USED
Trolling
Towing lures behind the boat at walking pace to attract fish.
Towing lines behind one of our charter boats at various depths, this can be a very productive way to produce some good fish. With electric down riggers installed on board which allow us to get down to those deeper trout. We minimize the guesswork and maximize on the target area for more fish.
Jigging
Boat is stopped and lures are dropped over the side to the bottom to get the fish.
Using graphite rods equipped with fine braid keep you in touch with the trout and salmon when bottom bouncing. This setup is a great alternative to spin fishing and is a quick way to get a little deeper if the fish are sitting on the bottom.
Spinning
Casting lure from the boat or shoreline to the fish.
Shimano reels and rod combos with light mono line, using a mixture of hard and soft plastic lures. Fishing river deltas, lake shorelines and small streams this is a relaxing way to catch trout.
Fly Fishing
The art of casting a fly using the fly rod to push the line and bait to the fish.
Experienced or not, fly fishing the southern lakes and rivers is no problem with a NZPFGA registered fishing guide. Lessons are available and we cover all aspects of the sport. With excellent dry fly and nymph fishing available from the boat or shore line.
