No Snow? No Problem. Go Fishing 🎣❄️
If you’ve already booked your Queenstown winter holiday and you’re nervously refreshing the snow report every morning, don’t panic.
The truth is, Queenstown is much more than just skiing.
In fact, while everyone is waiting for the next snowfall, we’ve already started seeing winter bookings roll in from visitors looking for something different to do during their stay.
And that’s where fishing comes in.
🎣🏔️
Lake Wakatipu offers world-class trout fishing all year round, and winter is one of our favourite times to be on the water.
The mountains are dusted with snow, the lake is quiet, the air is crisp, and some days it feels like you have the entire place to yourself.
Best of all, you don’t need any fishing experience.
Most of our guests have never picked up a fishing rod before. Within minutes they’re casting, learning new skills and often catching their first trout or salmon.
Why Fishing Is Perfect In Winter
✅ Stunning snow-capped scenery
✅ Great for couples
✅ Fresh air without spending all day on the ski field
One of the highlights for many guests is taking home a fresh rainbow trout or salmon. Some even have their catch prepared by a local restaurant for dinner that evening.
Now that’s hard to beat.
Already Coming To Queenstown?
Many visitors book flights and accommodation months in advance.
If the snow arrives late, that doesn’t mean your holiday is ruined.
Spend a morning or afternoon exploring Lake Wakatipu, learning to fish and taking in some of the most spectacular scenery New Zealand has to offer.
You might even catch dinner along the way.
Winter Is One Of Queenstown’s Best Kept Secrets
While everyone is watching the ski reports, we’re out on the lake doing what we love.
Teaching people to fish.
Creating memories.
And showing visitors a side of Queenstown many never get to experience.
Snow or no snow, the fish are still biting. 🎣
See you on the water.
Your next adventure starts here.
explore. fish. repeat.
