Begin your day with a hotel pickup before heading off-road in our rugged 4WD vehicle, journeying 1–2 hours through spectacular backcountry landscapes. Your destination? Hidden rivers and streams only accessible by 4WD-prime territory – perfect for stalking brown and rainbow trout in crystal-clear waters.
Guided by local experts, you’ll spend the day immersed in some of New Zealand’s most iconic fly fishing environments, learning techniques, reading water, and casting to sighted fish. With a focus on both the journey and the catch, this 9-hour adventure offers a truly authentic and unforgettable fly fishing experience, tailored for both experienced anglers and keen learners.

Owner and guide Simon Cruickshank grew up fishing the Mataura River around Gore and brings more than 35 years of experience across Otago and Southland. Our guiding team includes NZPFGA-registered professionals and caters for everyone from first-time fly anglers to experienced sight-fishing enthusiasts.

Pick Up / Opening

- Courtesy drop off at your accommodation 5:00pm in and around Queenstown
- Drop off time may vary depending on the fishing location on the day.
Inclusions
- Accommodation pickup and drop-off in and around Queenstown
- All required safety equipment
- Morning tea, refreshments and a cut lunch
- Safety briefing and fishing tuition
- Fish may be kept where regulations allow; catch and release is encouraged
- River spin or softbait fishing is available by prior request
Exclusions
- Fishing licences can be purchased online at – fishandgame.org.nz/licences/
- A fishing licence can also be arranged through your guide on the day
- Waders, boots, rod and reel are available for hire when booking – $95 per person, per day
- Alcohol – you are welcome to bring your own. Please drink responsibly; no spirits
Family & Child Policy
- Young anglers are welcome on guided fly-fishing trips. Standard adult pricing applies.
